Peer Reviewed Paper | Published June 2025 | International Journal of Professional Holistic Aromatherapy
I’m honoured to share this feature, which reflects both my professional journey and my passion for compassionate, evidence informed aromatherapy support
As the Clinical Aroma Specialist for this publication, I had the privilege of co authoring a peer reviewed paper alongside National Online Wellbeing Services (N.O.W.S). I have professionally worked alongside them for many years. This research explores the impact of aromatherapy as an early intervention tool to support children, young people, and families experiencing emotional distress and mental health challenges.
Published in June 2025 in the International Journal of Professional Holistic Aromatherapy and now held in the British Library, the paper brings together our collective experience in therapeutic coaching, trauma informed practice, and holistic healing. It provides evidence informed insight into how tailored aromatherapy interventions can promote emotional regulation, resilience, and recovery particularly when integrated into family and youth mental health services.
This publication also reflects my focus in trauma informed aromatherapy and aromachology, and it reinforces my belief in the power of plant medicine to support emotional wellbeing in accessible, meaningful ways.
This work has deeply inspired me to continue developing and sharing the therapeutic benefits of aromatherapy in community settings. There will be more to come and I look forward to continuing this journey through future publications, collaborations, and service development.
Interview for ‘In Essence’ Spring edition by the International Federation of Professional Aromatherapists (IFPA)
I’m delighted to be interviewed featured in the latest spring edition of International Federation of Professional Aromatherapists’s In Essence magazine, sharing my journey and passion for compassionate, evidence-informed aromatherapy and emotional well-being support
I am honoured to be featured in the latest In Essence Spring Magazine by the International Federation of Professional Aromatherapists (IFPA).
This spring edition focuses on aromatherapy for parents in a neonatal unit, well-being support for parent-carers, work within special educational needs schools, and therapeutic support for children, young people and families. In the interview, I share my personal and professional journey through more than 30 years in the wellness industry, from my early fascination with plants, fragrance and natural healing to my work today as a clinical aromatherapist specialising in emotional well-being and nervous system support.
I discuss how my experience with National Online Well-being Services (N.O.W.S) has helped me shape accessible remote aromatherapy services designed to support children, young people and families through personalised consultations and safe bespoke essential oil blends. The article also explores my passion for aromatherapy as both a science and an intuitive healing practice. I speak about the emotional impact of scent, the importance of creating safe and calming therapeutic spaces, and how aromatherapy can empower people to reconnect with balance and well-being in everyday life. This feature celebrates compassionate, evidence informed aromatherapy and the powerful connection between scent, healing and emotional support. Thank you to Helen Nagel-Smith for this opportunity to share my aroma journey in this edition. You can read the full article here:
